NCJW | LA’s Emergency Survival Fund was created to assist community members financially struggling as a result of poverty, loss of income, domestic and interpersonal violence, discrimination, health problems and related issues.
Our Emergency Survival Fund offers:
- Transportation assistance (bus tokens and taxi vouchers) for travel to local food pantries, medical appointments, work school or job interviews.
- A holiday gift card program for low-income families
- New baby and post-partum supplies including diapers, wipes and early child care necessities. Supplies are limited and vary from month to month.
Clothing Assistance Programs
Clothing Giveaway: Once a year, on the first Sunday in December, NCJW | LA provides free clothing to over 2,500 individuals through our Annual Clothing Giveaway. At the Clothing Giveaway NCJW | LA also hosts a community resource fair to connect participants to additional local resources and services.
Clothing Voucher Program: The CMHSS Department provides free Clothing Vouchers to partner community agencies to enhance their existing supportive services. Redeemable at any of the Council Thrifts Stores throughout Los Angeles, these vouchers enable recipients to buy everyday clothing as well as outfits suitable for work and job interviews.
