Something Old & Something New

The genius of a good thrift store lies in the perfect mix of contemporary and “vintage” clothing. Personally I get as much of a thrill in finding Rachel Comey or Phillip Lim at one of our store as I do in discovering “old-school” YSL or Comme des Garcons. This week’s sale at the Pico store was a perfect example of said mix. Vintage Oscar de la Renta and brand new Alexander Wang?! Totally different yet absolutely inspiring.

I love that despite the lack of similarities between the two pieces of clothing they are both so very “now”. The Alexander Wang boots look as though they came straight from the sales floor at Barney’s. Not only are they in excellent condition but they are completely on trend with the whole 90’s crazy heel revival going on. The Oscar de la Renta dress is special because it is characteristically “lady like” but it has pockets and bat-wing shoulders. The simplicity of the button down dress front make this Oscar far more wearable than some of his more voluminous dresses. I personally could not resist giving this dress a try . . .

Me pictured wearing the vintage Oscar dress with my own patent Dieppa Restrepo oxfords at the Pico store this past Friday

Isaac Mizrahi (pre-Target) one-sie. Honestly If I could get away with wearing something like this out in public everyday life would be so much sweeter.
