While many savvy thrift shoppers already know to visit Council Thrift Shops for great deals on designer clothes, shoes and unique collectibles, they may not know that Council Thrift Shops also stock a wide variety of incredible and often hard-to-find furniture at great prices.
From Mid-Century Modern to Hollywood Glamour, the Studio City Council Thrift Shop has recently been bursting at the seams with fabulous furniture. Located at 12203 Ventura Boulevard, just west of Laurel Canyon, the spacious Studio City store is frequently filled with some of the best furniture received from the charity’s generous donors. During our recent visit to the store, we found some real gems.
We discovered many couches available, from classic and comfy, to elegant and upscale. All clean and in like-new condition, as if they’d just come straight out of a furniture store warehouse. Large sofas, love seats, sectionals, you name it!
This velvety burgundy chaise longue evoked the vintage nostalgia of old Hollywood, the perfect fainting couch for an aspiring actress, or just the right piece for a reading nook (and perhaps even a follow-up nap).
The selection of chairs we discovered really stood out. From a pair of gorgeous wicker chairs that would be as at home in your den as they would your patio, to recliners, entire sets of bar stools, and so much more. We fell in love with an assortment of plastic & metal Mid-Century Modern utilitarian style chairs in bright vibrant retro greens and yellows which would have made any interior designer swoon!
We also found plenty of dressers and drawers and display cases, enough to not only furnish your entire home, but your neighbor’s too! The stunning Moroccan hand-painted wooden cabinet that we couldn’t keep our eyes off of looked brand new and was being sold for far below the cost of retail.
The next time you are in need of just the right piece, whether it’s fine furnishings, shabby chic, mid-century stylings, or everyday décor, avoid the cookie-cutter showrooms and move Council Thrift Shops to the top of your list!
