Layering turned Crushing

“Crushing. The energy of an explosion.”

-Rei Kawakubo

Rei Kawakubo (founder of Comme des Garcons) is a personal hero of mine. This season the Comme des Garcons collection was inspired by piles of fabrics and clothes laying on her design studio floor and referenced; “dirty laundry, muslins/toilles piles, junk yard, explosions, and crushing”. Not only does Rei Kawakubo inspire me but she directly influences other industry greats such as Marc Jacobs. It’s easy to see a reference to Comme des Garcon’s history of artful layering in this Marc Jacobs collection dress found in the Venice store:

I think these Robert Clergerie lace-ups are a classic alternative to the glittery creepers sent down the Comme des Garcons Spring runway
