Fall Scholarship Application Cycle Opens September 15th.

We are excited to announce that our Fall Scholarship application cycle opens next Tuesday, September 15th! As we remain sheltered at home, many college students will be faced with limited resources that are essential to ensuring their success throughout the semester.

NCJW|LA now offers twelve wide-ranging scholarships to students from all backgrounds who are in need of financial assistance. With the help of donors like you, we could increase the number of scholarships offered and help extend a helping hand to more students struggling to keep up with the rising costs of living in Los Angeles County.

Click Here to visit our scholarship donation page where you can donate to one of our established scholarship funds or you can create your own. Your generous donation will help create a foundation for the next generation of graduates who are struggling during this unprecedented time.

Join the Discussion! California Justice Ballot Propositions 2020 Webinar

This year’s ballot will have a major impact on Justice Equity in California!

On Tuesday, September 22nd at 7:00 pm, NCJW-California is holding a webinar on three upcoming ballot propositions. Prop 15 introduces a split roll tax on commercial properties to lessen the harmful impacts of the earlier Prop 13 which created severe state revenue shortfalls. Prop 16 will prevent continuing discrimination against women and people of color, allowing gender, racial, ethnic, and national origin diversity to be considered, once again, in public employment. Prop 17 restores a person's right to vote on completion of their prison term.

All three Propositions are consistent with the values of NCJW and have important implications for California’s future. We hope you will join us and share this invitation with those individuals you think might be interested.

The webinar will be held online via ZOOM. Can’t access ZOOM? Join us by phone. You can view event details after you submit your online registration. For additional inquiries, contact NCJW-California.

September's Employee Spotlight

This month, we spoke to Lisa Gullatt, Store Manager at our Mar Vista Location.

What is it like to be back in the stores?
It is exciting to be back in the stores and seeing our customers and donors again. I love seeing all the unique items that people donate to support our work -- but mostly it is great to see people again.

How are we keeping our employees and customers safer?
It is my job, as a leader, to ensure that everyone is safe in our stores -- especially our employees. We have so many measures and procedures in place: temperature checks, gloves, masks, social distancing, hand washing protocols -- all these things to keep everyone safe. We have activated a three-day quarantine and contactless receipts for our customers -- which people are thrilled about. They have been saying, "It's about time!"

What would you ask of our community?
Keep bringing donations -- we can use them, tell your friends about us, subscribe to our newsletter so you know what is going on in our stores and in our organization -- get involved in our mission and programs and be part of the bigger picture alongside us.
