WEHO Guaranteed Income is Complete!

Onboarding for our West Hollywood Pilot for Guaranteed Income Program is now complete! Twenty-five program participants will receive their first monthly payment of $1,000  and will continue to receive them until January 2024. Participants will be part of a larger research project spearheaded by the University of Pennsylvania. The research from our GI programs is key in contributing to the national conversation on Guaranteed Income and builds more evidence towards GI as a nationwide policy.

We are so excited to serve the West Hollywood community and proceed on this path toward economic justice for low-income Los Angeles County residents.

Scholarship Applications Open
September 1st
Over $15,000 Awarded Every Semester

The Scholarship Program is available for a variety of subject matter disciplines, as well as support for non-traditional students in achieving their academic goals. Awards are based on a combination of academic merit and financial need.

The scholarship application cycle runs twice a year in the Spring and Fall. Funding is made available during the recipient's following school term and sent directly to the educational institutions.

In 2021, we received 826 applications. 175 eligible students seeking financial assistance to attain post-secondary education in the greater Los Angeles area, including 61% in LA County. 18 students were selected based on a combination of academic performance and financial need. The NCJW|LA scholarship awards aim to increase the recipient’s path to upward mobility and job opportunity.

The selection process accounts for the real cost of attendance including food, transportation, housing, and childcare. 89% of the 2021 scholarship applicants are women experiencing unique challenges in educational attainment. 42% are seeking vocational/trade or less than 2-year degrees. 39% are pursuing a graduate or post-graduate degree.

Join the Conversations

We invite individuals looking for meaningful and impactful ways to support abortion access to join our planning committee.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 1, from

Together, we can begin to change to break through stigmas, biases, and discrimination, related to abortion and its access.

This will be the last opportunity for new members to join the committee, do not miss this opportunity!

Advocate Together

Join us September 1st at 3pm

These monthly meetings are a space for community members, leaders, and advocates to learn, plan, and reimagine what can be possible WHEN communities join forces and advocate for the issues impacting those most in need. NCJW|LA is an open and safe place; we encourage, welcome, and celebrate diversity and inclusivity at our meetings.

We will be focused on reviewing the Governor’s 2022-2023 Budget, a full review of bills we advocated during lobby week, and other bills we supported during this year’s legislative session.

Community Updates

Women's INEQUALITY Day
August 26, the anniversary of the certification of the 19th Amendment, is often known as Women's Equality Day. Yet with our voting and reproductive rights under attack, women today have fewer rights than we've had in decades.

This year, we're partnering with the League of Women Voters, YWCA, and other organizations to observe Women's Inequality Day by demanding that our government not only represent us but include us as equals. This includes passing voting rights legislation, adding the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution, and restoring our reproductive freedoms. Women hold the power to create a more perfect democracy!

Join us all day on social media using the hashtag #WomensInequalityDay and follow @NCJWLA on August 26.
